Food for Thinking Jehovah's Witnesses
“‘But you are seeking great things for yourself. Stop seeking such things. For I am about to bring a calamity on all flesh,’ declares Jehovah, ‘and wherever you may go, I will grant you your life as a spoil.’”

About Sites against Jehovah's Witnesses
JW-Geneva-2008
“I say to you, do not meddle with these men, but let them alone. For if this scheme or this work is from men, it will be overthrown” - Acts 5:38

While opening a web browser and searching “Jehovah’s Witnesses” with any search engine, we will have a plethora of results. Once we have found a site which defends the beliefs of the Organization, we'll have dozens of others that have anything and everything to say about it.
Websites can be divided in two categories: First, websites that want to demonstrate the false teachings of Jehovah’s Witnesses. Those are often the fact of others religions or Christian groups - Catholic, evangelical, and so on. Let’s say that they are doing their duty. After all, Watchtower publications are full of assertions to demonstrate the falsity of the other religions beliefs. We cannot blame the others for things that we are doing too, can we? We can only be amazed that Jehovah’s Witnesses are a far more common target compared to other groups. On the other hand, we have those who absolutely want to prove the dangerousness of Jehovah’s Witnesses organization. Generally, those websites are administrated by former members, some of them having been in the organization for decades. Someone might wonder how they could stay as long before realizing how much they were troubled. Of course, there are often good reasons why a person has decided to break his association with Jehovah’s Witnesses. Sometimes, everything goes smoothly and the former member shall not create any problems, living his new life. Somebody can also be a good company, as long as we do not touch the religious subject. Though often, they are starting to talk about it first. It seems that one is never really out. But there are those who have gone “by force” and, because their pride was hurt, they feel compelled  to share their experience with the whole world. No doubt that in the vast majority of the case, what they have experienced is real, we would not want to deny it. However, from a local experience it cannot be done a global generalization. There are about 8 million of Jehovah’s Witnesses around the world. If it was really a dangerous sect, which would practice brainwashing and making life a hell for its member, well, certainly medias would talk about it a lot more, right? Yes, we know that the Watchtower lives a non-easy period due to the pedophilia scandal, exactly as it has been the case of the Catholic Church. And certainly, the way that have been treated many cases do not give glory to Jehovah. We have all heard about Australia and the “Royal Commission into Institutional Responses to Child Sexual Abuse”. It is a demonstration that the Society did not have a good gestion of the problem. But can it be said that all Jehovah’s Witnesses’ children are in danger? Would they be better protect within another organization? Or on a school trip, or in a sports club? Trust that Jehovah’s Witnesses have for each other certainly attracts evil ones who see easy prey. But with a minimum of care, each parent can protect their child. These facts do not prove that the Watchtower promotes pedophilia. Watchtower do not encourage murder, but some Jehovah’s Witnesses are behind bars for having committed crime. And the fact that in congregation there are liars, adulteries or thieves does not mean that the Society encourages these actions. On the other hand, there are many examples where Jehovah’s Witnesses have been praised for their honesty. Yes, the Society’s publications include biblical misinterpretations, yes, within the organization operate unscrupulous individuals and yes there is no transparency in the way the Watchtower use the contributions. But all these things justify all these pages on the web? If you are a former Jehovah’s Witness, so live your life, take advantage of it. Why make all this expenditure of energy and time that you could spend for yourself, your family or your friends? If you still trust in God, please continue to pray him and serve him.  We know that God’s commandments are summed up in love of neighbor and of our Heavenly Father. What is important, it is our personal attitude and not that of an imperfect organization, even if it claims to have exclusive knowledge of God’s purposes. After all, each of us will be judged personally. But above all, God’s judgment will fall on those who are at the head of the organization, and he will not be kind and surely repay those who are mistreating his sheep. Although all you have lived, trust in God, he will set all things right.

Let us examine our beliefs:

the existence of God

If a Christian, and especially a Jehovah's Witness, is asked to provide proof of the existence of God, it is very likely that he will quote verse four of the third chapter of the letter to the Hebrews, "every house is constructed by someone, but the one who constructed all things is God".

The reasoning may be right, nothing came from nothing but everything on earth is due to the will of a designer, it is still good to note that Paul was not trying to argue about the existence of a Creator. He spoke to his Hebrew Christian companions who certainly did not question the fact that the universe was ruled by a powerful being who is behind everything. Moreover, in antiquity the problem was certainly not the non-belief in God but rather the opposite: people tended to believe in a multitude of gods. Furthermore, Paul, on one occasion, noticed that an altar dedicated to an unknown god had been made, certainly for fear of forgetting to revere a deity.

Parables for Our Days (Part 1)
Carl-Bloch-Sermon-on-the-Mount
What do the parables of Jesus have to say to us? Are they related to our days? First, we must identify and understand which of them have a prophetic application. For example, the parable of the prodigal son contains an excellent teaching for us, but is not prophetic, it announces no event! How then to distinguish the types of parabolas? As usual, it is very simple: we will stick to what Jesus Christ Himself said, without adding or taking away. We will limit the interpretations to the only elements that can be derived directly from narratives or other particular and relevant texts. For the rest, we will gladly content ourselves with the Lord's reply: "It does not belong to you to know the times or seasons that the Father has placed in his own jurisdiction" – Acts 1:7
