Food for Thinking Jehovah's Witnesses
“‘But you are seeking great things for yourself. Stop seeking such things. For I am about to bring a calamity on all flesh,’ declares Jehovah, ‘and wherever you may go, I will grant you your life as a spoil.’”

"The intentions of the heart belong to a man." (Proverbs 16:1; NET)
It is not at all unusual for a chosen and anointed one of Jehovah to become proud and presumptuous, although having previously been humble. For example, Jehovah chose young Saul out of all the men in Israel to become king over his people Israel. Why Saul? What special quality did Jehovah see in him? The Bible tells us that "Saul was not only the most handsome man in Israel, but he was also the most imposing, standing taller than all others." (1 Samuel 9:2; The Voice) Was it because of his physical appearance that God chose Saul? No, not entirely, for there was something more important that Jehovah saw in him, as Samuel later reminded Saul: “Is it not true that even though you were small (insignificant) in your own eyes, you were made the head of the tribes of Israel?" (1 Samuel 15:17; AMP) It was Saul's humility that made him special in God's eyes; and yet, although his good looks must have made him popular with his fellow Israelites, it was God's blessings that went to his head so that he became in a short time presumptuous; for not only did he erect a monument for himself, but he also failed to carry out God's specific instructions. (1 Samuel 15:12, 22,23)

"You are already clean because of the word that I have spoken to you." (John 15:3)
What did Jesus mean when, after having dismissed Judas, he told his eleven faithful apostles that they were "already clean" because of the word that he had spoken to them? Remember earlier, when Jesus took a basin with water and proceeded to wash the feet of his disciples (with Judas still present), Peter objected and told Jesus, "You will certainly never wash my feet." He was startled when Jesus answered him by saying: "Unless I wash you, you have no part with me." Peter immediately reversed his objection and replied: "Lord, not my feet only, but also my hands and my head." In turn, Jesus answered: "He that has bathed does not need to have more than his feet washed, but is wholly clean. And you men are clean, but not all." The apostle John, one of the twelve who was present, explains further: "[Jesus] knew, indeed, the man betraying him (Judas). This is why he said: 'Not all of you are clean.'" (John 13:2-11)

Keep Paying Attention to Daniel
writing-on-the-wall
The writing is on the wall. The world now stands at the brink of a great war; no doubt a global war, a war that will undoubtedly far surpass the horrors and hardships wrought by the 20th century’s two bloody world wars. The war now developing will most assuredly be the most tumultuous calamity ever experienced by any generation – it will overturn civilization itself.

Child Baptism – Why it is Wrong
cropped-child-baptism
Every year thousands of young people around the world get disfellowshipped. Short of being incarcerated in a correctional facility it is probably the most devastating experience that can be inflicted on a young person. That is because at the most formative time in their lives they are suddenly cut off from supportive family and friends and publicly branded as persons unworthy of life. And why is this cruel punishment imposed upon them? Because they were baptized as Jehovah’s Witnesses when they were young.

When is the hour of test?
blood-moon-767x575
It all begins with the artfully contrived false story that Christ began ruling the world in 1914. Supposedly Satan was hurled down from heaven then too and the world has been experiencing his great anger ever since. Jehovah’s Witnesses have been led to believe that the wild beast suffered the prophesied mortal wound during the First World War, but has long since recovered. And although most JW’s probably are not even aware of it, the Watchtower teaches that people of the world began receiving the 666 mark of the beast back in 1922. Yes, according to the Watchtower the hour of judgment began long ago, also known as the hour of test that Jesus said was coming upon the entire world.

In a previous article we understood that the 24 elders are not the 144’000. About the identity of the 24 elders, we can only make hypotheses based on the few available elements that we have. But can we know more precisely who the 144’000 are?

The Role of Women
George Crux–woman-face-eyes-head-1439814-639x442
“…your longing will be for your husband, and he will dominate you.” – Genesis 3:16

We have only a partial idea of what the role of women in human society was intended to be because sin has skewed the relationship between the sexes. Recognizing how male and female traits would become distorted due to sin, Jehovah predicted the outcome in Genesis 3:16 and we can see the realization of those words in evidence everywhere in the world today. In fact, the domination of men over woman is so pervasive that it often passes for the norm rather than the aberration it really is.
As apostate thinking infected the Christian congregation, so did male bias. The congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses would have us believe that it alone understands the proper relationship between men and women that should exist in the Christian congregation. Unfortunately, its own literature proves that not to be the case.

Q: Every year we make a special effort to invite people to the Memorial, and then we have to explain to them why they should not partake. All they do is sit and watch as the emblems are being passed. In our congregation we don’t have anyone who partakes. Frankly I find it embarrassing to have to explain that I invited them only to watch a ceremony. What’s the big deal about being present at the Memorial if we don’t partake?

Showbread and the New Covenant
Q: I launched into my own personal investigation of the Bible on [the New Covenant].  After doing extensive research, I came to the conclusion that ALL Christians are indeed in the New Covenant, but only the anointed with the heavenly hope partake of the emblems.  I hold this opinion based on my research on the similarities between the Old and New Covenants.
I am sure you are familiar with the showbread that was placed before the altar in the temple on the Sabbath day of each week.  Only the priests who served in the temple were permitted to eat it.  Is it possible that this  pictured who may partake of the emblems under the New Covenant? Personally, I think it does.  Under the Old Covenant, Moses sprinkled the blood of the covenant on ALL of the sons of Israel, but yet, when the Levite tribe was created and Aaron and his sons anointed to service in the temple, ONLY these ones could eat the showbread.
In conclusion, all the sons of Israel were included under the Old Covenant.  All the sons of spiritual Israel are included in the New Covenant.  Only the anointed priests serving in the temple could eat the showbread.  Only the anointed priests serving in the spiritual temple can eat the emblems.
Your thoughts would be appreciated...

Are Jehovah’s Witnesses Christians?

Matt Slick of The Christian Apologetics and Research Ministry (CARM) asks that very question (Is the Jehovah’s Witnesses religion Christian?) and conveniently supplies the reader with the answer. Here is a quote taken from the CARM website: The answer to the question is, ‘No. It is not Christian.’ Like all non-Christian cults, the Jehovah’s Witness organization distorts the essential doctrines of Christianity. What “essential doctrines of Christianity” have Jehovah’s Witnesses distorted? The next sentence enumerates three: It denies the deity of Christ, His physical resurrection, and salvation by grace. This alone makes it non-Christian.

Probably no historical record has been more scoffed at than the Bible. However, the facts show that if it weren't considered a book of religion and it had only recently been discovered by archaeologists, it would be proclaimed the most significant find in all history. For its details as to family lines, lands of occupation, life spans, and events should provide positive proof to even the most skeptical observers that its accounts are genuine and accurate, because no one would go into such minute detail if they were simply creating a forged document. Oh, they could if they wished, but that would require a high level of sophistication and some very dark motives.

Born Again – What Did Jesus Mean
Crijn Hendricksz Volmarijn - Jesus and Nicodemus
I tell you the truth, unless you are born again, you cannot see the Kingdom of God. – John 3:3, NLT
The vast majority of the many churches in the realm of Christendom believe that a person must be "born again" in order to go to heaven and be with Jesus. That belief is said to be based on the conversation that Jesus had with Nicodemus, a Pharisee and ruler of the Jews, who came to Jesus after dark to visit him privately. When Nicodemus confessed that Jesus must be from God―on account of the many miracles, Jesus answered him, saying: "I tell you the truth, no one can see the kingdom of God unless he is born again," and be "born of water and the Spirit". (John 3:3-7; NIV) What did Jesus mean by the term born again? And when a person today claims to have been born again, or asks if you have been born again, what exactly does he have in mind?

Are the “24 elders” and the “144’000” the same group of people?
It seems that the twenty-four elders are a different group from the 144’000. In this topic we’ll try to demonstrate it the old fashioned way: “Concordance” in hand, we will read all the verses of Revelation which contains the expression “twenty-four elders” and, without prejudice, we will accept what the Bible says. The sole purpose of this topic is to show that the two concerned groups do not represent the same people. Moreover, as a matter of a marginal reflexion, we will give a probable interpretation of the identity of these twenty-four elders.

Q: Paul mentions the last days would be critical times hard to deal with, due to the fact 1914 has no relevance to bible chronology and Jesus coming or presence I was wondering when Paul’s words apply. When considering the world scene is unparalleled in history as far as environmental destruction, social disorder, etc, etc do the critical times apply to this time period or is it still to come? Jesus also stated in Mathew 24: 8 ”All these things are a beginning of pangs of distress”. So I’m wondering how this relates considering this has not happened yet but world condition are trending downward?

The real reason there is suffering. It might surprise you.
Many years ago I awoke in the middle of the night to the sound of my father in agony, it was to mark the beginning of the slow trip through hell called cancer. If you are going through this yourself or with someone close to you please forgive my use of that horrible word, few words can match it for horror. But such was the beginning of a process of questioning and thinking that ended for me some years after my father's death.

The Lord’s Day is Coming Exactly as a Thief in the Night
putin-collage
QUESTION: I was reading one of the study articles called "Why Keep on the Watch”, and in paragraph 12, I found this interesting statement about what’s to come in the future: “Do not let the apathy of others discourage or dissuade you from keeping on the watch. You know better. Paul wrote to fellow believers: “You yourselves know very well that Jehovah’s day is coming,” and he added, “exactly as a thief in the night.” Jesus warned us: “Keep ready, because at an hour that you do not think likely, the Son of man is coming.” (Luke 12:39,40) — Soon, Satan will deceive the masses into accepting a false sense of “peace and security.” He will mislead them into thinking that all is well on the world scene. What about us? That day of judgment does not have to “overtake [us] as it would thieves”, provided we “stay awake and keep our senses.” — That is why we daily must read God’s written Word and meditate on what Jehovah is telling us.”
Based on the line that I indicated in bold, would this be the beginning of the great tribulation? Also, would you agree this false sense of peace and security is a unique event in the future and not the relative peace that exists in some parts of the world?

1 Thess. 5:3 says that whenever they are saying peace and security then sudden destruction will come instantly upon them. What I want to know first of all is, are we to expect some notable proclamation of peace and security before Armageddon; and from where does it come, from the world or the Watchtower Society? Are there other scriptures that shed light on this subject?

Let us examine our beliefs:

the existence of God

If a Christian, and especially a Jehovah's Witness, is asked to provide proof of the existence of God, it is very likely that he will quote verse four of the third chapter of the letter to the Hebrews, "every house is constructed by someone, but the one who constructed all things is God".

The reasoning may be right, nothing came from nothing but everything on earth is due to the will of a designer, it is still good to note that Paul was not trying to argue about the existence of a Creator. He spoke to his Hebrew Christian companions who certainly did not question the fact that the universe was ruled by a powerful being who is behind everything. Moreover, in antiquity the problem was certainly not the non-belief in God but rather the opposite: people tended to believe in a multitude of gods. Furthermore, Paul, on one occasion, noticed that an altar dedicated to an unknown god had been made, certainly for fear of forgetting to revere a deity.

Parables for Our Days (Part 1)
Carl-Bloch-Sermon-on-the-Mount
What do the parables of Jesus have to say to us? Are they related to our days? First, we must identify and understand which of them have a prophetic application. For example, the parable of the prodigal son contains an excellent teaching for us, but is not prophetic, it announces no event! How then to distinguish the types of parabolas? As usual, it is very simple: we will stick to what Jesus Christ Himself said, without adding or taking away. We will limit the interpretations to the only elements that can be derived directly from narratives or other particular and relevant texts. For the rest, we will gladly content ourselves with the Lord's reply: "It does not belong to you to know the times or seasons that the Father has placed in his own jurisdiction" – Acts 1:7
